Here at PR51st, we’re keeping track of just one thing about the 2020 presidential candidates: their positions on statehood for Puerto Rico. Statehood is a bipartisan issue, so we’ll be watching Democrats and Republicans — and independents, too — to see who is on our side.

We’ve already mentioned two supporters who’ve thrown their hats in the ring: Andrew Yang and John Delaney.

Here’s a third: Tulsi Gabbard.

No statement from Gabbard

Gabbard has not yet made a statement about Puerto Rico, and there is nothing about Puerto Rico statehood on her campaign website.

However, Gabbard was a cosponsor for HR 727, the Puerto Rico Statehood Admission Process Act introduced by Pedro Pierluisi in 2015. Gabbard represents the state of Hawaii in the U.S. Congress.

Cosponsoring a statehood bill is a clear sign of support for statehood for Puerto Rico. Click the tweet below to thank Gabbard and ask for her support going forward.

@TulsiGabbard, thank you for your support of Puerto Rico statehood in 2015. Can we count on you in 2020? Click To Tweet
