In 2012, a series of TV spots clarified the issues around the status referendum which took place in November of that year in Puerto Rico. In these spots, individuals explain why statehood would be a positive change for them.

The people of Puerto Rico voted as the ads suggested. 54% of the voters rejected the territorial status, and 61% of those who voted on the second question chose statehood.
